As a non governmental organization, SDE’s basic mission and vision is to contribute actively; to the creation of a developed, integrated and empowered Turkish-Islamic world, to build a world with tranquility, peace and security, to assist Turkey to become a global power with respect to her potential from historical geography. Hence SDE targets Turkey (as a regional power primarily, center country and then global power) to be a country which is; independent, democratic, prosperously developed, respectful to human rights and freedoms, committed to spiritual and moral values, contented, free and powerful. Consequently, SDE is the inevitable outcome of these aims put forward based on its commitment to become a completely national and independent think tank; and the idea of structuring around this context.

 In this context SDE;

• is the outcome of Turkey’s neccessity for a national and independent strategy center,
• is a tangible indication of new Ankara's desire to take an effective place in established new world which is occurred in the Middle East and the Eurosia region as a result of global power struggle 
• is the quest for establishing common mind together with other Think Tanks located in Eurasia and the Middle East,
• is the output of an idea of an economically, commercially and technically, more powerful Turkey.
• is the description of proactive initiative process in the Turkish Foreign policy and a think tank institution which will have a contribution in regards of determination of the vision.
