The congress aims to bring together scholars of the Middle East to exchange ideas and findings concerning the mutual problems of the region, and discuss scientific methods and approaches within the Middle Eastern studies. This will be an excellent opportunity to explore the varied intellectual trends across scholarly boundaries. Among the growing trends, paying attention to cultural variables while understanding political, economic, social, and historical issues is emphasized. ATCOSS-2010 aims to reconsider cultural factors in relation to other factors in attempting to build new untraditional perspectives and approaches for Middle Eastern studies. Such trends are most important for our region since culture is essential for attaining homogeneity and unity in the region while recognizing its diversity. The Congress invites the researchers from all fields and branches of social sciences to participate with papers in Arabic, Turkish or English. The presented academic studies will contribute to improving the analyses on social sciences about the Middle East.
