The international community mostly does not trust the nuclear researches and activities which are claimed to be done for peaceful purposes by Iran and this atmosphere has been getting tenser day by day.
After Geneva Negotiations held in 2009, October 1, on condition that the actions under the guidance of the USA and additional sanction threats of the six representatives that constitute the Security Council permanent members and Germany are tried to be put into practice in spite of Iran’s acceptable position despite all the pressures on it, it has been thought that they will face great hardships in putting them into practice.
However, the Western countries that had been waiting a positive reply in the context of Iran’s sending its uranium to the third world countries, started to make the long-debated additional sanctions the current issue with seriousness and determination because they did not receive the answer they had expected and Iran had stated that it would not send uranium which Iran had continually claimed to enrich for peaceful purposes abroad. In his speech at The White house the other day, The President Obama stated that the sanctions on Iran would be made the current issue in the international institutions and he also emphasized that Iran’s nuclear activities were a threat to the world. And these prove that now “the six” have started to play tough in diplomacy.
Russia that was against the sanctions on nuclear activities before, now exhibits the same attitudes with the USA and it seems to make the implementation of the decision easier. However, because of the deteriorating relations between the USA and China especially after the USA sent a missile to Taiwan, China’s refusal to support the sanctions and suggestions of pursuing the same diplomacy and the investments to a country like Iran that can manipulate excellently by playing all “the ingenious plays” courageously regardless of their risks are still problematic despite all efforts.
After the last statement of Iran on its decision of enriching its uranium in the scale of 20%, international psychological atmosphere changed and it inevitably works against Iran. Without a doubt both Israel that considers itself under ultimate threat and the pressure of the American government on the international public opinion have important roles in this change of atmosphere. For instance, Israeli military authorities, with a reference to the successful air operation in Iran’s nuclear facilities in 1981, give the message that Israeli Air Force is ready for this kind of operation in Iran and they will have a preventive operation in Iran if the international community chooses moderate sanctions and the diplomacy seems to fail.
In a response to Israel’s threat, the President of Iran threatened to “wipe Israel off the map”.
It is crystal clear that as long as Iran and Israel insist on their harsh attitudes, we will inevitably confront risks and threats for the world peace and instability in general, and risks and threats for Turkey and the countries in the region in particular. Although we do not see a possible war between two countries, even the anticipation of the usage of the means of conflicts by the concerned countries exaggeratedly, makes us to realize the seriousness of the situation.
